According to a recent PR Week article, Coca-Cola has launched a new office of social and digital media. The social media tsunami continues to head towards the world's largest brands. Coke's Clyde Tuggle, SVP of Corporate Affairs and Productivity shares our vision for the future of social brands:

“Mass media is declining in importance. Our future success depends on our continued ability to connect people to our brands and our Company all around the world, one person at a time,” Tuggle wrote. “Our new office of digital communications and social media will help us become even more comfortable and effective in these new spaces.”
Exactly. The Coke brand needs to build emotionally satisfying, meaningful relationships with million of consumers - one at a time. The challenges to this vision are extraordinary.
  • How do you connect with millions of people?
  • How do you know what they want and what they are thinking?
  • How do you negotiate the meaning of your brand with large social networks?
  • How do you scale your social media operations?
  • How does social media integrate with other media?
  • How do you compare investment in social media with investments in other marketing tactics?
  • What does effective branding strategy mean in social media?
  • What does a mass produced product become in a social branding world?
There are many other challenges.I don't know about you but I am very excited to be part of building a social branding platform that is part of solution to these challenges.
